Everything you need to know about this treatment for the trapezius — what it involves, who it suits and what to expect.
Trap Botox — also called TrapTox or 'Barbie Botox' — involves injecting botulinum toxin into the trapezius muscles that run from the base of the neck across the shoulders. It has become popular for its dual benefits: a slimmer, more elongated neckline, and relief from neck and shoulder tension, improved posture and easing of tension headaches.
Aesthetically, relaxing the trapezius reduces its size so the neck appears longer and more defined and the shoulders look narrower and more sculpted, with results developing gradually and naturally over time.
Therapeutically, it can ease persistent neck and shoulder tension from stress, posture or overuse, help with tension headaches and migraines, and support better shoulder mobility and alignment.
The toxin temporarily blocks nerve signals to the muscle, reducing its overactivity. Injections take around 10–20 minutes, improvements begin within 4–14 days and full results appear within two to four weeks. Aftercare involves avoiding intense exercise, massage and heat for 48 hours and staying upright for several hours afterwards.
Tension relief develops within days while aesthetic slimming develops gradually; results typically last three to six months, with maintenance recommended. Treatment starts from £395 depending on the units needed, and is always performed by a doctor for precision, safety and natural results.
